FH UNY and FIS UM Established Academic Collaboration through MoA and Guest Lecture

The Law Faculty of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) received a visit from the Faculty of Social Sciences of Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) on October 24, 2025. This visit aims to establish future collaboration and partnership between the two universities. It was undertaken because UM has a plan to establish the law faculty.

Dr. Siti Awaliyah, S.Pd., S.H., M. Hum, acting as the Vice Dean 1 UM, delivered the greeting speech to begin the event, followed by the speech from Dr. Poerwanti Hadi Pratiwi, S.Pd., M.Si., acting as the Vice Dean of Planning, Finance, and Resource Department of Faculty of Law UNY. The event continued with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement by both Deans, representing each university.

As a part of the visitation, Rusdiyanto Umar, S.H., M.Hum., a lecturer of the Law and Civics Program UM, delivered materials regarding the court system and judicial power to 1st semester students of Class A of the Faculty of Law UNY. The students enthusiastically participated and engaged in constructive discussion with the guest lecturer.

On the other hand, Affifah Fatma Dewi, S.H., M.H., a lecturer of the Faculty of Law UNY, presented the topic on the Introduction to the Student Programs of the Faculty of Law UNY. Several programs were introduced, which include: (1) The off-campus learning, (2) The Community Service Program, (3) The Student Innovation Assistance, and (4) The Student Extracurricular awards. First, the purpose of the off-campus learning is to strengthen and enrich students' competencies according to their interests through experiential learning. Second, The community service program aims to assist the participants in a competition to develop abilities and strategies in order to achieve victory. Some examples of the assistance provided, include support in the essay and poster competition. Third, the student innovation assistance is a supporting program provided for the students to develop their creative and innovative ideas, starting from the construction of the proposal to the realization of the ideas. Three students from the undergraduate program of the Faculty of Law UNY, M. Fairuzul Wafi Faradis, Icha Regista, and Zahra Kasya, received financial support through their innovation in developing a software called SI-HUKI.This software aims to assist the businesses in understanding and complying with the legal experts. Fourth, the student extracurricular awards is a scheme established by UNY to ensure that the students not only master legal theories when they graduate, but also legal soft skills. It is also mandatory for the students to participate in extracurricular programs as a requirement for their graduation, notably by participating in seminars, organizations, national or international competitions, and voluntary activities.
The agenda concludes with a discussion on potential future cooperation between the two Universities. The cooperation emphasizes the enhancing institutional capacity, including improving teaching quality, fostering research collaboration, and promoting community service initiatives. It is anticipated that the two institutions will strengthen their standing in the legal education domain and actively contribute to the realization of justice.
